University concrete strengthening

Hindle Mason Projects is a leader in the supply of practical, cost-effective and safe solutions to prolong the lifecycle of concrete structures.

A case in point was the innovative use of carbon-fibre (CF) materials to enhance the load-bearing capacity and stiffness of concrete components of this university. The tensile strength of our CF reinforcement is between seven and 10 times that of steel with the same cross-section and it does not increase the weight of the structure and size of concrete elements. This while also providing excellent corrosion resistance and durability to significantly extend the service life of the structure.

We installed a total of 1 300m of 100mm x 1,4mm CF plates in a very short period. This impressive production rate was facilitated by the high work efficiency of the material. Because it is a flexible material, CF can easily accommodate different shapes. This lightweight material also does not require heavy equipment and on-site fixed facilities to install, which correspondingly reduces construction costs. A small and confined construction footprint is achievable with this material, further facilitating high efficiency levels, while also making it especially suited to concrete-maintenance and repair projects in operational environments.

Also providing ease of quality assurance, we were again able to achieve the engineering design specification with ease, bringing 2024 to a close on a positive note.
