Bunding area concrete repair

Considering the critical role that bunding areas play in containing the potential spillage of hazardous materials, mining and industrial companies prefer to only partner a specialist to maintain, repair and expand them.

As the foremost provider of concrete repair and corrosion/erosion protection solutions, Hindle Mason Projects was the first point of contact to restore and expand eight bunding areas on this mine site. The mine was already familiar with the high quality of our professional service. Since 2016, we have helped it to restore and prolong the service life of many of its structural assets, several of which operate in the most onerous environments. This while either contracted directly or as a specialist sub-contractor.

This is the third bund area that we have already repaired and extended to the client’s exact standard. 16m in length and 11m wide with a floor slab consisting of up to 13m3 of reinforced concrete, this bunding area can accommodate four large skips.

Notably, we used a very durable repair mortar for this specific application. It achieves a compressive strength of 20MPa within two hours before reaching its final strength of 80MPA within a month after pour. The concrete was then treated with a cutting-edge corrosion-protection coating. Thereafter, the principal contractor painted it to specification.
