Concrete repairs to silo
Working safely at heights of 34m, we have already successfully sealed the top rings of two silos on this mine site as part of Impala Platinum’s dust-emission project.
The first silo that we sealed already received the necessary approvals from the authorities, which bears testament to the high quality of our workmanship. This is the very reason that we have remained this mine’s preferred concrete repair, as well as corrosion/erosion protection partner for many years.
After a thorough site investigation, we were able to devise a long-term solution that would support our client’s robust health, safety and environment protocol.
The substrates of the upper portion of the silos are first thoroughly cleaned and repaired with a surface grinder. We then treat the surface with a two-part thixotropic structural adhesive with high mechanical strength for bonding the Hypalon system to the concrete substrate. Consisting of a modified flexible polyolefin waterproofing tape, this system allows variable and high levels of movement in one or more directions, while maintaining a quality watertight seal.
