Concrete Repairs in-and-around Chutes

One of our latest projects for this mine entails undertaking concrete repairs in-and-around its inline feeder chutes.
 
HMP’s Construction Manager, LJ Erasmus, says HMP designed a practical and cost-effective repair solution that will extend the useable life of this important production infrastructure.
 
“Contaminated concrete is broken and removed, before treating the exposed areas with a bonding primer that also provides reinforcement corrosion protection. These areas are then reprofiled with a high strength, cementitious micro concrete with aggregate of a maximum size of 9mm. It is ideal for casting sections such as these where the volumes required are too large for conventional grouts. Once the six inline feeder chutes have been installed by the mine, they will be secured to the surrounding concrete – an application that will entail the placement of about 2 000l of grout,” Erasmus concludes.
