Steel tank wear/waterproof lining
Hindle Mason Projects completed the application of a specialised wear/waterproofing lining to this steel tank in only two days for a mining company. This is despite working during extremely challenging weather conditions, including severe winds; very hot temperatures on the first day; and cold, rainy weather the following day.
We worked under the supervision of the design/fabrication company that requested the lining. The company is familiar with our extensive skills and capabilities and, therefore, chose to partner a leading corrosive/erosion-protection specialist with a more than 30-year track-record in the field.
The lining was spray-applied using specialised high-pressure spray equipment that is able to heat the material to 70◦C as per the manufacturer’s specification. Inside the tank, the application had an average Dry-Film Thickness reading of 4,3mm.
We used two state-of-the-art systems for this application.
This includes a two-component, solvent-free pure polyurea membrane that is spray-applied under high pressure to form a waterproof coating for hydraulic works.
The other was a two-component, solvent-free epoxy resin-based filling primer that penetrates deeply into the substrate.
