Concrete bund wall built

This new 12,5m x 350mm x 400mm bund wall that we built at a platinum concentrator catches potential spillages and leakages from a dam and prevents employees from falling inside.

Oue new build projects benefit from our deep knowledge of the lead causes of concrete failure and how to avoid them. By relying on this experience, we can construct robust final structures.

The steel reinforcement was treated with a cementitious epoxy resin compensated three-component coating. This excellent bonding primer provides protection against reinforcement corrosion, a major cause of structural failures.

Casting was then undertaken with a free-flowing, high-strength, cementitious micro-concrete with a maximum aggregate size of 9mm. We use this material extensively to repair deteriorated concrete where volumes required are too large for conventional grouts, and too small and inaccessible for common concreting procedures.

The wall was then coated with a two-part polymer cementitious waterproof mortar slurry. It consists of a liquid polymer and a cement-based mix incorporating special admixtures to safeguard the concrete from water and contaminants contained therein.
