Concrete thickener repairs
Hindle Mason Projects has mobilised to site to commence large scale repairs to a thickener for a leading platinum miner.
We are now sandblasting the outer side of the thickener to create a smooth and clean surface as part of the preparatory work before we start with the actual repairs.
Early next year, our team will commence sealing cracks and joints inside of the structure, before repairing the launder walls.
While a straightforward project for a leading concrete repair and corrosive/erosive protection specialist, it is an extensive undertaking. Involving between 80m and 95m of repair work, the project will take us about three months to complete.
Again, quality repair systems will be used throughout.
This includes a low viscosity injection resin, which forms an effective barrier against infiltration and corrosion promoting media. It also structurally bonds concrete sections together.
A cutting-edge joint sealing technology will be used to securely seal and protect joints to ensure a water and airtight structure.
A free-flowing, high strength, cementitious micro concrete with a maximum aggregate size of 9 mm will be deployed to repair the deteriorated concrete. It is ideal for casting sections or members where the volumes required are too large for conventional grouts, and too small and inaccessible for conventional concreting procedures. During this aspect of the work scope, we will also use a one component, ultra-high strength cement-based grout.
To complete the process, the structure will be treated with a polyurea hot spray-applied waterproofing and protective membrane.
