Concrete cooling tower repair

Hindle Mason Projects successfully completed concrete repairs to a mechanical cooling tower that was damaged by fire.

We were subcontracted by a leading cooling tower specialist, with who we have nurtured a close working relationship, to complete the repairs to a high specification.

Quality Sika products were used throughout. These combined with our skills and experience working with the company’s products as an approved Sika applicator and our extensive concrete repair capabilities and knowledge again ensured a successful outcome.

For shutter and pour applications, we used Sikacrete-214, a free-flowing, high strength, cementitious micro concrete with a maximum aggregate size of 9mm.

Sika MonoTop-412 NFG and Sika MonoTop-3020 ZA were deployed for hand-patch and skim coat repairs, respectively. Sika MonoTop-412 NFG is a single-component, polymer modified, fibre reinforced, low shrinkage repair mortar with a corrosion inhibitor. Meanwhile, Sika MonoTop-3020 ZA is a cementitious mortar for levelling and repairing minor concrete defects, such as pores and honeycombs.

For a protective coating, we used SikaTop Seal-107 ZA. This two-part polymer modified cementitious waterproof mortar slurry consists of a liquid polymer and a cement-based mix incorporating special admixtures.
